e-Benedictine is a guide to Saint Benedict, his Rule, and the tradition of prayer and community that continues around them. Here you can read the Rule, learn about Benedictine life, or find a place to begin with prayer. The site is rooted in Catholic tradition and welcomes anyone who wants to explore it.
The person behind the site
I’m Brian Junyor, a Benedictine oblate of Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas. My connection to Benedictine life began while volunteering at a hospital sponsored by the Olivetan Benedictine Sisters. Friendships formed there led to a lasting relationship with Subiaco, where I eventually became an oblate.
I maintain e-Benedictine as an independent educational and devotional resource. My connection to the Abbey informs this work, but the site does not speak on behalf of Subiaco Abbey, the Benedictine Confederation, or the Catholic Church.
Reading with care
The guides bring together historical texts, traditional prayers, and explanations for readers today. Source notes help you follow the material further and distinguish an original text from a translation or modern commentary.
The Rule published here is the modern English edition edited by Brian Junyor in 2026 and published by Ordinary Things Press. Its attribution and licensing details accompany the text. Other works retain their own authorship, translation credits, and source information.
